obama continues to amaze – no, FRIGHTEN – me… (UPDATED)

… with his arrogance.

Q: how scary (and illegal?) is this pseudo-presidential seal of his?

A: almost as scary as some of the stuff that his supporters cultists are doing and saying.

i have said it before, and i will say it again: THIS IS HOW FASCISM HAPPENS.

UPDATE: smmmmmmackdown!

Snarked John McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds, “I think we can all agree that we need presidential candidates that are serious enough not to play make-believe on the campaign trail.”

It’s laughable, ridiculous, preposterous and revealing all at the same time,” Bounds said.

UPDATE: This guy gets it, too:

… this kind of reaction — an emotion-driven response utterly devoid of coherent ideational content, a response that leads far too many people to be enthusiastically willing to believe virtually anything that Obama might proclaim and to follow him anywhere – is one that Obama and his campaign explicitly seek to elicit.

People had better wake the hell up, and they had better study some history very damned fast. I have sometimes remarked, and I repeat the warning here, that the twentieth century was a nonstop train of horrors – yet in one sense, the most terrible and horrifying aspect of the twentieth century is that we learned absolutely nothing from it.

Among the horrors of the twentieth century were several notable leaders who initiated events that led to slaughter and destruction on an ungraspably monumental scale. These charismatic leaders evoked a response from their followers almost identical to that called forth by Obama. These leaders specialized in “personal stories of political conversion.” Doesn’t anyone see the connection? Doesn’t anyone remember any of this?

Read the Alice Miller excepts that I offered just the other day. Try to understand what is going on here. Try to grasp the immense danger represented by this phenomenon.

(all emphasis mine)

UPDATE 2: this guy, a self-described “neoconservative” disagrees, although he says:

I think Arthur Silber’s right to note similarities between the current election and trends in the 1930s. It’s the exact shape of those trends that are at issue…

UPDATE 3: i have a feeling that this post is going to keep being updated, and updated, and… well, you get the picture…

EGO-BAMA, SWALLOW SOME OF THAT PRIDE

The overarching theme to his entire campaign – “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” and all that – is that voting for Obama is proof of the cosmic superiority of … Obama voters.

In a speech in Madison, Wis., Obama told his supporters that rallying to his cause was today’s equivalent of the “greatest generation” rallying to defeat Hitler and Tojo. Oprah merely calls him, “The One,” saying he will help us “evolve to a higher plane.”

jesus…

AND:

from lonewacko via hotair:

Back on July 2, Barack Obama read his “public service” address, and it contained this line that hasn’t received much notice:

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set… We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”

so, he wants a “civilian security force” for what, exactly? to enforce what, exactly?

i shudder to think… (link from original lonewhacko post)
